MEDELLÍN, the city of eternal spring

Situated at an altitude of 1,538 meters in the heart of a valley, Medellin is the capital of the Antioquia Department. Nicknamed “city of eternal spring”, it is the birthplace of painter Fernando BOTERO.

Despite dark years marked by Pablo Escobar's drug cartels, today Medellin is a sophisticated, green and prosperous city that is the pride of its inhabitants. The pedestrianized streets of the chic, residential district of El Poblado allow you to enjoy fine shops and restaurants.

Discovering Comuna 13

La Comuna 13 is a popular and very symbolic district in the south of Medellín.
In the past, this district was considered "the most dangerous in the world". Today it has become a must-see for tourists and also for street art fans.

At the time, it was a strategic area for drug and arms trafficking. It was set on fire and bloodshed by the 3 major armed groups (AUC, FARC and ENL) who clashed for control of the neighborhood, ideally located to smuggle drugs through Panama.

Here are some videos taken during my visit to Comuna 13, I particularly liked the street art atmosphere and the shows of the different artists.

It is a must, but do not hesitate to take a guide (for more security) and also to understand the history of this "barrio".
