BARRANQUILLA
Barranquilla is a city in northern Colombia and the capital of the Atlántico Department. It is located on the western shore of the Rio Magdalena, the most important river in Colombia, 7.5 km from its mouth in the Caribbean Sea.

Barranquilla is particularly known for its carnival: the most important folkloric and cultural festival in Colombia. This tradition dates back to the 19th century. This carnival is the third in the world after those of Rio de Janeiro and Venice. About 2 million people including visitors and locals participate each year.
